VSEA has long been active in reducing and preventing waste. In 2007, the executive management team continued this tradition by creating the Green Team. By focusing on reducing, reusing and recycling waste, this employee team has radically changed the company’s approach to its trash. Some of the successes include:
- Wooden shipping crate reuse
- Electronic purchase orders
- Excess office equipment “sales” to employees
- Reuse coffee cup program
- Cafeteria utensil dispensing reduction
- Recycling of nearly every waste stream imaginable including hazardous substances and solid waste
As a result of the team’s hard work, VSE recycled over 1050 tons in FY11. This is an annual increase of 41%..
